  11. In order to enable the students to acquire sound principles of conduct, action and lay a solid foundation for a purposeful life, the school organizes various activities that are mostly based on the syllabi of the class. Parents must encourage the participation of their wards in all these activities.

  12. Students should excel in good manners. They should show respect to their parents, elders, school authorities, and teaching staff. They should be gentle and polite.

  13. A Student should not leave his/her classroom without permission and also he/she is not allowed to enter any classroom other than his/her own.

  14. English being the medium of instruction in the school, students are expected to speak only in English in the class and in the school premises.

  15. Every student must have their Tiffin brought with them. No lunch packets or any other articles will be reached to the students during the class hours.

  16. A student involved in any incident, even outside the school which brings discredit to the institution either because of unpleasant nature or inviting criminal or legal action by police or by the court will be dismissed from the school without further inquiry.

  17. The school reserves the right to dismiss the student whose diligence or progress in studies is unsatisfactory or whose conduct is harmful to other students or whose guardians show little interest in the progress of their wards. Habitual illness/ actions detrimental to the discipline and the moral of the school/grave insubordination and contempt of authority or willful damage to property/ non – payment of fee is always sufficient reason for immediate dismissal.

  18. Immediate exclusion or even dismissal will follow if the continued presence of the defaulting student is damaging the physical and moral well-being of other students and of the school, or if the violation is punishable seriously at the board level, such as unfair practice at the examination.

  19. The interpretation of any rule in this as well as any amendment to it rests solely and entirely with the governing body of the school. Their interpretation shall be final and binding on parents and students.

Discipline Committee

It aims at bringing a better discipline in the students and school. The committee consists of members from Staff and Student Representatives with the Principal as the head. The Student Council helps in maintaining discipline and acts as a liaison between students and teachers. The School Pupil Leaders are elected at the beginning of every new session. They are assisted by Captains and Prefects of each House and Monitors of the respective classes.

 

Expectation from Parents

  1.  Parents are are requested to co-operate with the Principal and Staff to ensure effective functioning of the school and the well being of their wards.

  2. Parents are co-educators of the child, so it is essential that they mould the character of their wards and instil discipline and moral values.

  3. Parents are requested to see that their ward does not bring home anything from the school without the teacher’s knowledge, and if so send it back the very next day and inform the teacher In the interest of the child’s future, it is very essential for him/ her to imbibe self-discipline. The teacher will take adequate corrective measures to ensure the general discipline of the class under her/his care. The teacher’s efforts will bear fruit only with adequate positive inputs from the parents.

  4. It is very important that changes in residence/Office address and telephone numbers be communicated in writing to the office, immediately, whenever they occur.

  5. In case you need, any help from the school/Principal, regarding the well being of your ward please, do not hesitate to communicate.

  6. Parents should send their ward’s Tiffin along with the students. Late coming Tiffin will not be reached or given to students for safety reasons.

  7. Healthy and nutritious food should be packed for Tiffin along with a napkin.

  8. Parents should ensure that their wards are regular in studies and allied assignments.

  9. Parents should avoid using the school as a meeting place for airing grievances. Communication of problems in writing to the school authorities will be appreciated. Parents, who intentionally organize others to revolt against the management or invite the media into the campus in order to defame the institution, will be asked to withdraw their wards from the school immediately.

  10. Criticism of teachers or the school in front of the wards/other parents should be strictly avoided as it causes the student to lose his/her respect for the teachers. If any parent humiliates or insults a teacher, the school reserves the right to ask that parent to withdraw their ward forth with or at the end of the academic year. If there are genuine complaints pertaining to a teacher, parents should register a written complaint against the teacher. According to the nature of the complaint, suitable action will be taken.

  11. Parents who visit the school during school hours are to make known the purpose of their visit at the reception counter so that they can be attended to.

  12. Pedal-pushers, Bermuda shorts or any tight-fitting or suggestive clothing could be source of distraction or deviation from the normal dress code.

  13. Parents should keep in mind that as co-educators of the child, it is very essential to observe the dress code when they are in school premises.

  14. Entry is forbidden for parents and visitors beyond the School reception area. Parents are strictly forbidden to go to any class or to the teaching areas without the permission and sanction from the school authorities.

  15. Parents are not permitted to interact with the teachers or students during the school hours. In case of any emergency, the Principal must be contacted.

  16. Parents will be allowed to enter the school premises only after the verification of their credentials by the security personnel.

  17. Parents are requested to see that some amount of regular English conversation takes place at home.

  18. Our School strongly discourages private tuitions. The teaching programme in the school is good enough for the students to perform well, provided they are attentive in the class and realise their responsibilities. The habit of self-study and regularity in reading must be encouraged at home.

  19. Parents must sign on the page after taking note of the remarks written by the teacher, in the diary as well as in the test notebooks and guide the child accordingly without undue pressure. Parents are requested to ensure that their remarks in the diary are duly attended by the teachers. If not, they are requested to bring it to the notice of the Principal.

Expectation From Students

  1.  All the students should come to school.

  2. It is the duty of all students to keep their classrooms and surroundings, clean and in order. No student is allowed to write his/her name or leave any indelible marks on the furniture. Before leaving the classroom students should pick up any waste paper and unwanted material lying on the floor and drop it in the dustbins provided.

  3. Students are not allowed to write on blackboards unless asked to do so by the teacher.

In order to enable the students to acquire sound principles of conduct, action and also to lay a solid foundation for a purposeful life, the school organizes various activities which are generally based on the syllabus of the class. Parents must encourage their ward’s participation in all these activities.

  13. In case of injuries sustained by students while in the school, first aid will be rendered immediately. And injuries necessitating Hospital/OPD treatment will be attended to without delay.

  14. Every Student should take care of school property. Intentional damage to school property is a serious breach of school discipline and will have to be made good by the defaulting students.

  15. Children should do their home-work regularly.

  16. Students are forbidden to bring any electronic gadgets or other valuables to the school. If found disobeying, strict action will be taken against those students.

  17. Every student should take care of his/her personal belongings. School authorities do not take on any responsibility for the loss of such belongings. Name of the student/admission no. and class should be marked on the personal belongings to facilitate recovery if lost in the school premises. Students found possessing/ reading/ viewing any material of indecent nature will be dismissed without any prior notice.

  18. Students found involved in cyber crime will be suspended with immediate effect and if it is proved, they will be dismissed from the school.The school reserves the right to dismiss the student whose diligence or progress in studies is unsatisfactory or whose conduct is harmful to other students or whose guardians show little interest in the progress of their wards. Habitual illness or actions detrimental to the discipline and the morals of the school or grave insubordination and contempt of authority or wilful damage of property or non payment of fee is always sufficient reason for immediate dismissal.

  19. Immediate expulsion or even dismissal will follow if the continued presence of the defaulting student is damaging to the physical and moral well being of other students and of the school, or if the violation is punishable seriously at the board level, such as unfair practices during examinations.

  21. Pupils with unkempt hair will be prevented from attending school.

  22. Boys are not allowed to wear coloured vests.

  23. Girls are not allowed to wear fancy ear rings, bangles or finger rings. The growing of nails and use of nail polish is forbidden.

  24. School uniform forbids the use of jewellery, henna/mehandi, streaking of hair, make up, tattoos, etc.

  27. A student involved in any attempt of defaming the management, teachers and fellow students using social networking sites like Facebook will be dismissed immediately and are liable to legal actions under cyber crime and IT Act 2000.

  29. Fines which may be deemed necessary to be imposed on the students are only to improve or to enforce discipline.

Parent-Teacher Meeting

Parents and teachers are like fresh air and water to the children. Both are vital for the growth of a child. A child is the greatest treasure of the parents. Therefore parents’ role is very valuable in moulding the character of students, formation of personality and better understanding of education. As a healthy association with teachers is crucial in the learning process, regular constructive interactions with parents brings forth the well being and smooth run of this institution.

1. Periodic meetings of parents with teachers are arranged by the Principal in order to ensure coordination in the process of the children’s education.

2. Parents are requested to make good use of this opportunity for building mutual understanding between the parents and teachers with regard to the holistic development of their wards. The parents are requested to bring their ward/wards along with them in proper school uniform when they attend the P.T.M. Kindly carry the student’s diary on PTM days Remarks by the teachers on the PTM registers must be read and duly signed by the parents.

3. Regular absence of parents from PTMs will be seriously viewed.

4. Parents are expected to pay attention to the instructions sent through the diary, circulars, and come to school whenever required. On P.T.M days the Principal will not be available for meetings with parents. Parents can meet Principal on all working days from Monday to Fridays from 9.00 am to 10.am or with prior appointments

School Timings

Class Timing for students

 7:50 am to 2:00 pm in summer, and 8.20 am to 2.30 pm in winter. There can be differences in this timing due to extreme climate which will be intimated to the parents.

Office Working Hours:

 8.30 am to 2 pm on all working days

Fee counter  working Hours: 

8.30 am to 12.30 pm on all working days

1. No School business will be attended after school hours & on holidays.

2. Parents can meet the Principal between 9.00 am to 10.00 am from Monday to Friday. (Besides this only with prior permission)

Teacher’s Meeting Time:
The teachers may be met only with prior appointment on- All working days between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm in summer, and between 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm in winter.

1. The academic session commences in April and ends in March every year.

2. The school closes for summer vacation from Mid-May to the beginning of July.

3. There is a short autumn break in October during the Dussehra and a winter break in December-January.

4. Fees are paid for twelve months of the academic year.

Cleanliness

All the students must be clean and tidy in their proper dress and manners. Parents are requested to send their ward/wards to school neatly dressed without which they will be refused admission to the class. Pupils with unkempt hair would be prevented from attending school. No fancy hair crop is allowed, if found they will be sent home back and after proper hair crop only allowed to enter the school. Boys are not allowed to wear colored vest. Girls are not allowed to wear fancy ear rings, bangles, finger rings and growing of nails & using of nail polish. School uniform forbids the use of jewellery, henna/mehandi, streaking of hair, makeup, tattoos etc. It is the duty of all the students to keep their class rooms and other places in and around the school, clean and in order. No student is allowed to write their names or leave any indelible marks on their desks and chairs. Before leaving the class room students will pick up waste paper and any unwanted material from the floor.

School Uniform

The School Uniform prescribed shall be worn by all students from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, students should wear. T- Shirts of their respective House and white pants/ skirts etc.

On all special occasions, celebrations and days of examinations, practical etc they should wear the school uniform. The uniform must be neat and clean. Students who fail to be in uniforms as required and those who come in shabby and untidy dress will be denied entry into the class.

School Diary

  1.  The school diary is to be kept with utmost care and brought to school every day. No page from it should be destroyed or smudged.

  2. Parents are expected to check their ward’s school diary everyday and take care that the lessons and home work assigned to them are completed.

  3. Students must bring to the notice of their parents/guardians any communication/notes given by the teacher and get it countersigned. Entries by parents/guardians should also be shown to the teacher.

  4.  The personal memo pages should be carefully filled in by parents at the beginning of the academic session. If there is change in address or phone number, same must be intimated to school office.

Examination & Promotion

Assessment is a day to day activity which a teacher undertakes to know and discover the qualities, talents, abilities and short comings of the students. The teacher uses various techniques and methods to know study and assess the student’s mental, physical, social, emotional, aesthetic and spiritual development. The teacher is in constant touch with the students to help them in their all–round development. To assess the progress of each student in the various subjects and to facilitate an intense study of all the subjects, the performance of the students will be tested in class tests, term exams and syllabus based activities. All promotions are decided by the Principal in consultation with the teacher at the end of the academic year. Promotion is granted on the basis of the grades/marks obtained in the assessment/ examination as well as the general performance during the entire year. In deciding the promotion of a student, the grades/marks of all the examinations will be taken into consideration. The minimum pass marks in each subject will be 40 percent. Special arrangements for assessments/examinations cannot be made for pupils who for any reason are absent from any of the tests or examinations. Absence/leave in an assessment/examination will be treated as having received no marks in it. Written work is only one of the many ways of assessing a student. Even in the written work, the teacher takes into account the QUALITY, ACCURACY, NEATNESS and EFFICIENCY with which the work is done. Besides the written tasks, the students are graded for their response in class, class work, sketches, display of models, charts, etc. They are expected to express their thoughts freely and confidently. The teacher also takes into account honesty, creativity and originality of the work, while allotting grades. Wilful breach of the rules and regulations during the examinations is punishable with expulsion from the examination hall, or subsequent cancellation of the entire examination or suspension for a period of time or dismissal from the school. The result declared by the Principal will be final and will not be reconsidered. Parents/ guardians should personally collect the progress report card issued after the exams. Class assessments must also be signed by the parents as and when directed by the teachers. As a general rule, no answer sheets will be shown to the parents.

SCHOLASTIC & CO- SCHOLASTIC AREAS, ASSESSMENT:

1. The course of study followed in the school is in accordance with the syllabus and curriculum prescribed by CBSE, New Delhi in order to prepare the students for the CBSE Examinations according to CBSE.

2. The curriculum and the academic performance are divided into two parts; Scholastic and Co-scholastic.

3. Part – I Scholastic Area: A-It consists of the Subjects taught in the School.

4. Scholastic area consists two terms for class 1-8. Semester- 1 and Semester-2 each of total carries 100 marks (Each term includes 20 marks Periodical Assessment+80 marks term end exams).

5. Every Periodic assessment should make use of Periodic Test- 10 marks with syllabus covered till announcement of test dates by school, Note book Submission- 5 marks at term end, Sub enrichment- 5 marks at term end.

6. Part-II Co-Scholastic area-B-consist of Work Experience, Art Education and Physical and Health Education- Sports, Yoga, First aid etc

7. Co-Scholastic area consists on a 3 point (A- C ) Grading Scale (Term 1 & 2).

8. Co- Scholastic area also refers to DISCIPLINE (on a 3 point (A-C) Grading Scale (Term 1&2).

It will be based on the factors like attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour, Values, tidiness, Respectfulness for rules and regulation, attitude towards society, nation and others.

Assessment Criteria for up to Standard VIII

1. Promotion to the next class at the end of the academic year is decided through the system of passing mark that is minimum 41% in each subject. In grand total each one must get minimum 41 % or above.

2. If a student does not show steady and consistent progress in scholastic as well as in Co-scholastic areas, she / he shall be given chances for improvement in the same class.

3. If a student does not show steady and consistent progress in scholastic as well as in Co-scholastic areas, she / he shall be given chances for improvement in the same class.

4. Unless and until the student achieves the necessary grade she / he will not become eligible for promotion to the next class.

5. No leave other than medical leave shall be sanctioned during the terminal examinations. Medical leave is to be applied for only when the leave is taken and supported by medical certificate. However, she / he will have to secure the minimum grade in the aggregate for promotion.

6. Students who are detected in giving or obtaining or attempting to give or obtain unfair assistance during the assessments will be disqualified. Students shall not take any books, notes, paper etc. into the examination hall.

7. All cases of doubts regarding evaluation of answer papers and promotion will be settled entirely by the Principal.

The school will conduct three periodic written tests in the entire academic year with the portion of syllabus cumulatively covered and the average of the best two will be taken. The gradually increasing portion of the contents would prepare students to acquire confidence for appearing in the board examination with 100% syllabus.

Note Book Submission (5 Marks)

Note Book Submission as a part of internal assessment is aimed at enhancing seriousness of students towards preparing notes for the topics being taught in the class room as well as assignments. This also addresses the critical aspects of regularity, punctuality, neatness and note book upkeep.

Subject Enrichment Activities (5 Marks)

These are subject specific application activities aimed at enrichment of the understanding and skill development.

For Languages: Activities conducted for subject enrichment in language would aim at equipping the learner to develop effective speaking and listening skills.

For Mathematics: Laboratory activities and projects as prescribed as CBSE/NCERT may be followed.

For Science: Practical works/Activities may be carried out as per as prescribed by the CBSE in the curriculum.

Co-Scholastic Activities

Discipline (Attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour, Values):


Discipline significantly impacts career shaping and it helps build character. Sincerity, good behaviour and values develop strength and foster unity and co- operation. Therefore, the element of discipline has been introduced. Class teacher is responsible for grading the students on 5-point scale (A to E).

The internal assessment comprising 20 marks (10+5+5) entails objectivity and a structured approach. For a holistic assessment, it is an effective tool.

Personal Belongings

  1.  The students must bring to school, the textbooks and stationery prescribed for their respective classes. Books must be covered and bear the student’s name and class with sections on the outer and inner pages. Students are expected to take good care of their belongings.

  2. Students found possessing any reading, viewing or other material of indecent nature will be dismissed without any notice.

  3. Every student should take care of his/her personal belongings. School authorities do not assume the responsibility for loss of such belongings. The name of the students/ admission number and class should be marked on the personal belongings to facilitate recovery when lost on the school premises.

  4. Students are forbidden to bring any electronic gadgets/ other valuables to the school. If found disobeying, action will be taken against those students.

Attendance Leave & Absence

  1. Students should attend school regularly and must be punctual for classes and participate in all the activities. They must reach the school at least ten minutes before the morning Assembly.

  2.  The school gates will close at 07:50 am in summer and 08:20 am in winter. Latecomers will not be allowed to attend the class.

  3. Leave Applications from parents are to be submitted according to the format given in the diary addressed to the Principal. Every absence must be entered in the leave record pages of the school diary and duly signed by the parents.

  4.  Re-tests are not taken for students who remain absent during any test/examination.

  5.  Every student is expected to have a minimum of 80% attendance during the academic year, failing which he/she may not be permitted to take the annual examination.

  6.  Students will not be allowed to leave the premises of the institution before the school gets over (no half-day leaves) except in case of an emergency, for which parents/guardians have to submit a written request to the Principal. Written permission from the Principal is mandatory for the same.

  7.  Absence for more than three days at the beginning of a term or immediately after a vacation without prior notice renders a student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls.

  8.  Students have to get recorded in the School Diary on the prescribed page the number of Days and reasons for leave and get the signature of their Father / Mother/ Guardian. On the day when the Students come after the day’s leave, they shall get their School Diary signed by the Class Teacher while the attendance is taken in the Class and by the Principal / Head Mistress immediately after the morning assembly. Failure in this will render a student liable to be sent home. Without getting the School diary signed by the class Teacher and Principal the students who were absent shall not sit in the Class.

  9. Frequent taking of leave and repeated absence for festivals, wedding, trips and other social functions will render the student liable for removal from the roll.

  10.  Unless information in writing is given to the School a student who is absent from the school for more than a fortnight shall be removed from their rolls. After one month the student shall be deemed to have left the school. If such a student reports back her/ his Parent shall give the reasons in writing and request for re-admission. The student may be admitted to the class subject to vacancy in the class and at the discretion of the Principal, who may also refuse the application. Full fees for the period of absence and the admission fees will also be charged from the student.

  11.  In case of medical leave for more than three days a medical certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner must invariably be enclosed with a leave application.

Illness & Isolation

It is a matter of deep concern that parents allow children suffering from infectious ailments to attend classes or examinations.

A child should be medically examined at the first sign of any rash/ fever and should be sent to school only on the advice of a doctor. On recovery from an infectious ailment, a child should remain at home for the period of quarantine as advised by a doctor. In order to return to school, a medical fitness certificate duly signed by a doctor should be submitted to the office. Quarantine period recommended for

a) Chicken pox – 3 weeks (till the complete falling of scabs)

b) Measles – 2 weeks

c) Mumps – 2 weeks

d) Conjunctivitis – 1 week

e) Jaundice – 4 weeks

f) Corona – after testing negative 7 days

If students come to school with infectious diseases, they will be sent back home. A student must be medically fit to attend school.
